HOME» Departments » Warsaw Department

The Warsaw Department was established in 1960 and is one of the oldest departments of Polish Sociological Association. Its mission is to integrate the Warsaw circles of sociologists dispersed in numerous academic and research institutions. The main activity of the Department is the organization of meetings during which various sociologic topics are discussed. These are held monthly – except the longer breaks like summer holidays. Some of the meetings are organized in cooperation with research institutes, editorial boards of sociological journals or with scientific publishers. The Department is also a co-organizer of seminars and scientific conferences (eg. conferences organized together with the PSA’s Sociology of Law or Sociology of Norms and Social Control Sections). Moreover, Warsaw Department takes patronage of various kinds of sociological events organized in Warsaw by academic institutions and students organizations (eg. Sociological Showroom SGGW, Sociology Days at APS).

Currently, the Warsaw Department of PSA has 474 members (12.10.15).
